Add stops from a spreadsheet

Spreadsheet import is the fastest way to add many stops at once. Pro and Teams subscribers can upload an Excel file, a text file, or a pasted address list through the RoadWarrior web app, then open the route on mobile.

Who can bulk import stops?

Bulk upload is available on Pro and Teams. See Plans and pricing if you need to upgrade or confirm your plan.

What file formats are supported?

You can import stops using any of these:

• .xlsx — Excel workbook using the RoadWarrior upload template (recommended for large lists).
• .txt — plain-text address list.
• Pasted list — type or paste addresses directly in the web upload tool.

If your file is .xls or .csv, open it in Excel or Google Sheets and save or export as .xlsx before uploading.

Step 1: Download the upload template

1. Download the RoadWarrior location upload template:

   Rw.Location.Upload.xlsx

2. Open the file in Excel, Google Sheets, or another spreadsheet app.

3. Do not change row 1. The first row contains column headers the upload tool expects.

Required columns

Each stop row needs:

Can stand in for city + state when those are missing. | | Country | Use the country codes listed on sheet 2 of the template. |

* Provide city and state, or a postal code that geocoding can resolve.

Optional columns

See Stop notes. | | Latitude & Longitude | Decimal degrees (for example 40.0150, -105.2705). Overrides the street address when both are present. | | Stopover / Visit Time | Planned time at the stop, in minutes. |

Step 2: Upload in the web app

Upload happens in the RoadWarrior web app at flex.roadwarrior.app. Sign in with the same account you use on mobile.

1. Open flex.roadwarrior.app and sign in.

2. Go to the upload or import stops area (often under Uploads or route tools in the web app).

3. Choose your import method:

   • .xlsx — select your filled template file.
   • .txt — upload a plain-text address list.
   • Paste — paste addresses into the text field.

4. Start the upload and wait for processing to finish.

Step 3: Open the route on mobile

When the upload succeeds, RoadWarrior creates or updates a route with your imported stops.

After the stops are on your route, run Optimize or arrange stops manually, then navigate. See Getting started with RoadWarrior and Optimize and route settings.

FedEx and OnTrac manifest uploads

FedEx and OnTrac contractors can email support@roadwarrior.app to request a direct manifest upload instead of building the spreadsheet yourself. Include your contractor details and the manifest file or format your team normally uses.

Using Google Sheets

You do not have to use desktop Excel.

1. Download the template and open it in Google Sheets (upload the .xlsx or import it into a new sheet).

2. Fill in your stops below row 1 without renaming or deleting columns.

3. Choose File → Download → Microsoft Excel (.xlsx).

4. Upload the downloaded .xlsx file in the web app at flex.roadwarrior.app.

Troubleshooting

Header or column errors

The upload tool expects the template headers in row 1. Do not delete, rename, or reorder columns. If you removed a column, download a fresh template and copy your data back in.

Wrong file type

Only .xlsx is accepted for spreadsheet uploads. Convert .xls or .csv files to .xlsx before uploading.

Geocoding errors on specific rows

When a row fails geocoding, note the row number in the error message. Open that row in your spreadsheet and compare the address to Google Maps. Fix typos, missing postal codes, or ambiguous street names, then upload again.

Fix geocoding errors in the web app

After upload, you can correct failed rows without rebuilding the whole file:

1. In the web app, open the Uploads tab.

2. Tap the Settings icon for the upload.

3. Choose Fix Issue on Error (or the equivalent geocoding repair option).

4. For each error, fix the pin by clicking the map, searching the address, or skipping the row if you want to drop it.
